Topics of discussion include the history of American national security, theories and laws that form the basis of national security, the armed forces, the intelligence community, the role of law enforcement, bureaucratic agencies, legislative and executive responsibilities, terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, and career paths in the field of national security. Purchase of this individual Monarch course grants access to one child for 18 months beginning on the date of activation.

Description

National Security Careers helps students in grades 9-12 who are interested in protecting and serving our country explore a variety of career options. Throughout the semester, students study careers in the military, coast guard, FBI, CIA, politics, photography, science, and more.

 

In addition to careers, the course examines how national security has changed throughout the course of history and the pros and cons of what it looks like today. The semester ends with a discussion of current threats to national security.
