Introduction to Careers in Education and Training helps students understand the purpose of education and instills within them an appreciation for the skills educators possess. Throughout this semester-long Career and Technical Education (CTE) elective, students in grades 9-12 learn how communication skills, group collaboration, and critical thinking influence learning. Students also study the organizational and group management skills necessary for working with individuals of various ages and cultures. Other topics of study include state-specific professional development requirements and health and safety requirements, as well as legal and ethical issues within and outside education. Purchase of this individual Monarch course grants access to one child for 18 months beginning on the date of activation.

 This semester-long course helps students in grades 9-12 explore careers in education and corporate training. Throughout the semester, students discuss the key elements involved in being a teacher, including learning styles, collaborative learning, instructional design, and communication. They also spend time looking at what it takes to train fellow employees in the workplace.

 

Introduction to Careers in Education and Training is designed for students who are thinking about pursuing a career as a teacher, trainer, or other education professional.
