Milestone Moments in AOP's 40 Years

Forty years ago, Alpha Omega Publications began with a promise to provide homeschool families with exceptional educational materials that promoted academic excellence and Christian values. In 2017, we reaffirm our mission to change education for the glory of God, and we celebrate four decades of dedication to Christ-centered education. Along the way, here are just a few of our favorite milestone moments in AOP’s 40 years:

1977. Alpha Omega Publications was formed to provide high-quality, Christ-centered curriculum for a rapidly growing homeschooling and Christian school movement.

1978. LIFEPAC was born.

1983. The Home School Legal Defense Association was founded.

1985. Homeschoolers filed (and eventually won) a truancy lawsuit against the Texas Education Agency.

1992. Horizons debuted with its first two acclaimed math courses.

1992. Alpha Omega Academy was established to serve students via distance learning. 2017 marks AOA’s silver anniversary.

1993. A teacher certification is not required to homeschool based on a landmark decision by the Michigan Supreme Court.

1995. LIFEPAC gained color.

1997. AOP released Switched-On Schoolhouse, a groundbreaking, interactive curriculum on CD-ROM.

2010. AOP launched Monarch, an online homeschool curriculum.

2015. Monarch launches budget-friendly plans, creating a whole-new customized learning option for homeschool families.
